Okay so if you did not follow the link to the story I wrote yesterday, you should today, and read the comments. We seem to have stirred the pot a bit, one person has already written the author of the article and gotten a response, and I just wrote him as well. Fun fun!

Read about my angst over a Wisconsin newspaper doing a fluff piece on scooters but calling them mo-peds. Another Vespaway post that you can read here.

Bob G. Stewart of the Marshall Democrat News writes:
Newspapers are reporting that more and more baby-boomers (read older guys and chicks) are discovering — or rediscovering — the joys of motorcycle riding. They also report that more and more folks are dying on these two-wheeled contraptions. Hmmm. I wonder if that means we should all be a little more careful when driving down the road in our cars and trucks.
Yes Bob, yes people SHOULD be more careful when driving down the road. You can read him here. Just your average fare fluff piece. It’s a shame really because he made such a good opening point, I had hope he might expand on it and really give 4 wheel drivers (especially of the SUV variety) a good tongue lashing. But to no avail.

I have not been idle these past few days. I have started work on urbanscoot.net finally. Go ahead and take a look at it bearing in mind that it is still a work in progress. I fyou have any imput at all, PLEASE email me, as I am very torn on a number of things and would appreciate it. There will be a news component to it, as well as audi and video. You can see that I have already started putting video in. I have also started the directory for new york, but I am torn on how I should list things and what the overall directory flow should look like. Ugh… I hate having a creative burst and then becoming stuck, which is where I feel I am at now. *sigh*

Over at Vespaway.com where I have been blogging most of my scooter stuff lately, I just posted a good article on a journalist giving up his 4 wheels to use a scoot for daily commuting. Both the article and my post are well worth the read because I deal with the issues of converting to scootering on a daily basis, and opine on many of the issues facing us scooterists today.

I have never mentioned it on my blog before, but one of the main reasons I got a Vespa Scooter is that I was in Manhattan on Sept 11th, 2001. I began to look into the possibility of getting a scoot as a means for a quick getaway. It took me a while because I knew NOTHING about scooters. But, as anyone who knows me will tell you, I never do anything half heartedly and getting into scooters was no exception. So I wondered if there were folks in London who felt lucky to have a scooter and were able to get home and away from trouble quickly? Aside from that, MCN, UK’s #1 Motorcycling magazine is wondering: Did you help in London?
MCN would like to hear from anybody who found themselves and their motorcycle or scooter being brought into the emergency plan to help with the emergency procedure.
