John Rogers, who wrote the first draft of the Transformers script, talked to Newsarama about the movie. Here’s a clip from the article:
Yep, I wrote the first draft. I’ve seen the shooting script, and it’s about half and half. They’ve moved one of the storylines a little earlier, and they’ve increased the big military aspect, whereas I had focused on some of the smaller, personal stories. Yeah, you know, I get a credit, we’ll see. We’ll see what it looks like eventually. It goes from me, to the other guys, who work quite extensively with Michael Bay, so using what he needs to get his vision across. The characters are the same, the rough plot’s the same, and I’ve seen the mock-ups of the battles and it’s gonna be frickin’ huge. It’ll be a lot of fun to see.
Transformers hits theaters on July 4.

Hugh Jackman says he’s hoping to begin filming his X-Men spin-off film, Wolverine, sometime next year.
That would mean a 2008 debut for the film.
Jackman recently talked to Comics Continuum while promoting the Oct. 2 release of X-Men: The Last Stand on DVD.
“For me as an actor, it’s an amazing part,” Jackman said. “I think Wolverine, in, not just the comic-book genre, but any kind of action movie, is one of the great parts. I love playing him, and it’s a challenge.”
Look for the film to deal with Wolverine’s past and include Stryker and Sabretooth. Jackman stressed that Wolverine is not a substitute for X-Men 4: “I want to make a piece that’s in every way — stylistically and character-wise — that’s different, that shows new stuff,” Jackman said.
Regarding X3: “For me, if you’re going to play a role and you’re going to do it again, you want to do it better, you want to take it further and you want to show more,” Jackman said. “And in the script, I think we had the best script to start with of any of three.”

Xbox wasn’t showing up to TGS empty-handed, nosiree. They’ve finally stepped up with a couple of interesting, albeit expected, announcements. First up: the Xbox 360 HD DVD drive finally has a price and date of launch — for Japan. The land that forgot the Xbox are first to have their HD DVD add-on announced, due to hit overseas streets on November 17th for ¥19,800. That’s about $170 US, which is not only an awesomely and unexepectedly low price for an HD DVD device (especially when bundled with a Xbox 360 Universal Media Remote), but it’s also a good indication that the US version of the device should be around the $200 range when released in the US, as we’ve been predicting.
Part two: a software update this year will enable 1080p output on the friggin’ Xbox 360! Your rig will finally benefit by pushing the full 60 megapixels per second of visuals to your compatible HDTV. Sorry, no HDMI cable yet (or ever?), though, this is only over component and VGA. Users can expect 1080p upscaling immediately on current games and DVDs and native 1080p on compatible HD DVD titles, but Microsoft hasn’t yet announced future games that will rock 1080p natively. Watch out Sony, that whole 1080p song and dance isn’t such a marketing edge for you guys anymore.
Update: It would appear there’s some contradictory information already — Reuters is reporting that it’ll be November 22nd for ¥20,790 (about $180 US). Our press release and conversation with Shane Kim are both pretty straight up about November 17th for ¥19,800, so we’ll see how it unfurls. Ultimately it shouldn’t matter too much to those reading this post, we’re still talking about the Japanese release of the device.

Miss Justice League Unlimited? Wish there were new episodes of Teen Titans on Cartoon Network?
You’re not alone. And you’re probably out of luck for any future installments of either of those shows.
But you’re not totally lost if you like watching DC Comics super-hero teams in animation.
One of DC’s venerable properties, the futuristic Legion of Super Heroes, debuts as an animated series on Kids’ WB! on at 10 a.m. on Saturday, the day the children’s network moves to Ch. 50 in Detroit.
The show is from Warner Bros. Animation and many of the same creators of Justice League and Teen Titans, including producer James Tucker, who counts himself among the followers of the long-running characters.
“Legion fans are the most devout, passionate,” said Tucker, who compared them to ever-faithful supporters of baseball’s Chicago Cubs.
Tucker and crew face the task of creating a show that will fit on Saturday morning and yet placate the throngs of die-hard Legion fans.
“Stylistically, we kind of found a middle ground between Teen Titans and Justice League,” said story editor Rob Hoegee. “Everyone from the crew’s side are huge fans of the book. It’s important for us to not only get it right, but always do something that people are going to enjoy.”

That’s $429 from an originally planned $515. Don’t get your hopes up. This price drop, announced at the Tokyo Games Show, is officialy for the Japan model only. That’s actually enough for us to guess that the US price drop is a sure thing. But this is for the Lame-o basic version, that we wouldn’t look twice at. Nuh uh, not even with beer goggles. Oh, some really cool news, though— HDMI 1.3 (deep color) standard on all models

The Come Out and Play festival starts today. If you’re in NYC, I highly recommend checking out the real-action games—not to be confused with your perverted Live Action RPGing—played throughout city blocks and parks, using cellphones, GPS, and digital cameras.
Some of the most interesting sounding games include Manhattan MEGAputt, a round of mini golf through the East Village, and a live action game of Pong (Um…Tennis?) And if you see that guy in the picture, go ahead and pat him down. He’s got a Zune and Wii in his front pocket, and the first person to try and grab it gets both.

The Remember Ring has a special nagging feature, using its “Hot Spot” technology that warms up to 120 degrees Fahrenheit for 10 seconds, every hour, on the hour, beginning 24 hours before that “special day,” apparently honoring the anniversary of your voluntary servitude. That’s supposed to be warm enough to be uncomfortable but not hot enough to burn you. The Remember Ring converts the heat from your hand into electricity using a micro-thermo pile, keeping that battery charged and its heat-bomb clock ticking away, ready to burn you again next year.
Tell the diabolical proprietors when your anniversary date is when you order the ring, and they’ll program it for you. Available in seven styles ranging from gold to silver, it has a lifetime warranty. We would like the company to add a special voice nagging option, kicking into an hourly whine about taking out the garbage once a week.

Fox 411′s Roger Friedman talked to British actor Bill Nighty (aka Davy Jones) last night at the Beverly Hills Hotel and learned that The Rolling Stones’ Keith Richards has filmed his cameo as Johnny Depp’s swashbuckling dad in Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End, which is shooting in Palmdale, California:
Nighy wasn’t on set when Richards came for his big Hollywood moment, but he more or less confirmed for us a tale we’d heard earlier. Richards, no stranger to substances and liquids, was left to his own devices in his trailer before his big scene. That wasn’t a good idea. When the time came to shoot, he was a bit “wobbly.” To keep him straight, director Gore Verbinski held Richards by the shins.
“If you’d wanted straight, then you got the wrong man,” Richards replied huskily.
Richards’ pirate costume, sources say, closely resembles Depp’s, with a different colored bandana. The two had such a good time together that Depp kept a souvenir from Richards’ short visit: a set of stairs built for Richards to get in and out of his trailer, which he signed to Depp with the salutation, “A step too far.”
The third installment hits theaters May 25.
