The rumorhounds over at ThinkSecret have some more juicy details about which next-gen DVD format Apple will be adapting to. ThinkSecret’s anonymous sources say that Apple will be receiving Blu-ray drives in February that will end up being included in their range of computers and laptops. No word on pricing or availability, but expect the drive to add at least $500 to the cost of the desktop or laptop.
My sister (Neil’s cousin, and the only granddaughter in the family) moved to PA years ago. She lives near Bushkill, on a mountain where they hunt deer for food and live in a wooden shack with no indoor plumbing. OK, that’s a lie… but that’s what I pictured when she said that’s where they were moving to.
Living in PA, it has not been easy for her. The isolation, having to travel miles to a “corner” store. I don’t understand how she deals with that. I need the city… I need the noise and clammer. Police sirens, and the occasional homeless person singing music at the top of his lungs. I would miss it so much.

To keep in touch with her friends back in the real world, and to let people know what happening in her life she started a blog. She is not as technical as Neil or myself so I have been helping her out with tweeking the site to make it the best it possibley can be. You can check it out here.
Hopefully you will enjoy it, as much as I have been helping her create it.
I took a mental health day off to get my head straight. Sorry for not posting any of those wonderful gizmo’s and gadgets, or any movie or comic news. I’ll be back tomorrow, enjoy your day!

FIC’s taking more than just a page from the Linux community with its FIC-GTA001 smartphone—its taking their entire playbook. Hoping to capitalize on what is essentially free programmers for the project, FIC is releasing a Linux-based smartphone complete with an SDK (Software Development Kit). This allows end-users to develop their own programs and functionality for the phone (picture an army of geeks making sure you can play back DivX on your phone).
The phone itself has a 2.8-inch VGA display, USB mesh file sharing, multi-touch sensor recognition, GSM, GPS, 128MB RAM, a Samsung ARM9-based processor and MP3 playback capabilities. The concept of their multi-touch gestures is that you can use two fingers to control a variety of tasks, such as two finger scrolling like the PowerBooks and MacBooks. Some demo pics of the gesture abilities after the jump. Even though the phone will probably only sell to DIY-ers and Linux enthusiasts, there may be some interesting applications that come out of this.

Best Buy’s Black Friday Ad, one of the crown jewels for Black Friday season, has just been posted online. Some of the pretty decent deals are a Kodak 5-megapixel camera for $79, a Celeron E-Machines PC with 15-inch LCD for $189, a HP Core Solo Notebook for $379, a Toshiba 50-inch Plasma for $1699, and a 32-inch and 42-inch WestingHouse for $479 and $999 respectively. Some pretty decent stuff here, but they’ll probably have two or three per store and be sold out unless you show up at 10 PM the night before.

It looks like you won’t be able to miss the Spider-Man 3 trailer anywhere on Thursday as we just received word from numerous scoopers that the clip will air on the CBS Network as well. ‘Greg Sanders’ writes:
I was just watching CBS and they aired that on Thursday they would be playing a Network Television Premiere of the NEW Spider-Man 3 Trailer. This also ties into the same day as what’s happening on MTV. It didn’t say during what show, like they would, but it could come on at any time.
‘Dragon’ adds:
I was just watching CBS and they announced a Spidey 3 “Preview” (I suppose they mean the trailer, but they said Preview) running on Thursday. They didn’t give an actual time but said it would be running during primetime, between Survivor, CSI and Shark. All the while they had the Spidey costume texture (Like during the teaser opening) moving in the background. So they might be arranging the schedule around the showing.
The above was echoed by ’swingerbone’. Thanks for the heads up!
